Neurocognitive organization of cognitive control
The information processing required to carry out complex behaviors must be organized so that processing proceeds correctly and efficiently. One’s current goals must be activated and updated and one’s attention allocated so that that task-relevant stimuli are encoded and task irrelevant stimuli ignored and correct responses are selected and incorrect ones inhibited. We are currently investigating the nature and organization of these control processes in a series of behavioral and fMRI experiments.
