DOCTORAL DISSERTATION RESEARCH REQUIREMENTS

Dissertation research activity should proceed in the same sequence as outlined for the Master's thesis. For the dissertation, however, committee membership must consist of five faculty, with at least one faculty member outside of the School of Psychology and three regular faculty members of the School of Psychology. The area must approve members that are not faculty of Georgia Tech. The dissertation cannot be initiated until the student has passed his/her preliminary examination. The same procedures for the distribution of the proposal and the final copy of the dissertation should be followed. Students have seven years from the end of the term in which they successfully pass their preliminary examinations to graduate (i.e., having successfully defended their dissertation research).
