Specific Experimental Psychology Program Course Requirements
In addition to the general program requirements, each student is expected to be actively involved with her/his area of specialization throughout her/his graduate career. This involvement includes topical seminars, survey courses, and research activities. Students are expected to enroll for a minimum of three research credit hours during each semester of their tenure in the graduate program in psychology. These credits may be thesis hours or independent study credits.
In general, there are no specific additional course requirements for Experimental Psychology students. However, students are expected to take topical seminars in their focus area of Experimental Psychology (Cognitive Science; Cognitive Aging; Animal Behavior) whenever offered. Additional course requirements may be set by the various focus areas. Students who receive an NIA traineeship should consult the NIA manual. These requirements may involve certain general core courses or specific topical seminars or courses. For example, in addition to topical seminars in cognitive aging, students in Cognitive Aging are required to take the following:
- • PSYC 7020 Survey of Cognitive Aging
- • PSYC 6015 Developmental Psychology (to be counted as one of the required core courses)
